A strong and enthusiastic passion for music led Bethany van Barneveld on the path to musical theatre in 2011. Originally trained as an instrumentalist and a singer, she had a strong lilting background to become an established and appealing presence on stage. After being cast in her first musical in 2011 as the vibrant Hedy La Rue in “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying”, she was hooked, auditioning for the Queensland Conservatorium’s Bachelor of Musical Theatre a year later.
Bethany is also a master of improvisation including short form as much as clowning, Stanislavski and Shakespearean. Recent credits include ensemble works in “Oklahoma!” and “Godspell”, as well as featured artist roles in “Con2TheCabaret” and “Who’s On Now?” and in David Ives' “Words, Words, Words”.
Bethany’s laundry list of accents ranging from American dialects to French Canadian, Japanese, Puerto Rican and Scandinavian has elevated her serious citizen of the world credentials. She excels in all manners of sport and fitness, including digging her gumboots in the relaxed but stylishly competitive world of equestrian sports such as dressage, endurance riding, English riding and horse jumping.
